1. Where will I live?
With other Urban Challengers in furnished
accommodation owned by the Mission or (exceptionally) similar accommodation
provided by a placement church. We will meet the cost of council tax, fuel bills
and telephone line rental. You will be expected to pay for personal calls.
2. Can I
choose what work I will be doing?
All Urban
Challengers participate in the full programme for the first three
months. After that, they can choose what area of work to
specialise in.
3. Will I
be attached to a church?
Yes. You will be placed in a church (agreed
beforehand wherever possible) which reflects your own church background. Unless
you are involved in taking meetings for BCM, you will be expected to attend
regularly on Sundays and the main midweek meeting. We will keep in regular touch
with the pastor or leaders of the church.
4. Is UC non-stop work?
No, we're not workaholics! We recognise the
need for relaxation. The work is physically, emotionally and spiritually
demanding. We build recreation into the programme, with group activities like
walking, bowling etc. There is a day off on Monday.
5. How will my progress be
reviewed?
The UC Team Leader and the Evangelism
Co-ordinator will hold regular reviews of your work, including major reviews in
December, April and June.
6. How do I apply?
